My usb drive would not show bootable in the bios. Could not recover. I used nvidia’s tool to make the usb recovery media. Given no understanding or help on the forum I figured time to try whatever and then RMA.
So this is what I did to get it to work since nvidia can’t
1 - I turned off secure boot
2 - I set the secure keys back to setup mode and not factory setting
There are two settings for keys nvidia directs you to reset the top one and so I figured I'll do the worst thing and used the bottom one.
3 - I manually created a new boot path in bios
4 - Set the path in the bios to point to the usb efi boot, for whatever reason there are two spots to do this next to each other and you have to give it a name. Called mine USB_Recovery.
5 - Move the new path up to boot slot 1
6 - Move nvidias attempt at usb recovery to boot slot 2
7 - Move normal hard drive nvme into boot slot 3
8 - save settings and reset
This forces the bios to look at the usb drive and boot off of the efi file there. If your media doesn’t boot then you probably have a different issue.
