How to update Nvidia Graphics Drivers on Redhat 7.6

So I am pretty new to linux and struggling to update the Nvidia graphics driver

I downloaded the driver from the Nvidia’s website but I am not able to run it using
sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-430.40.run

I get the following error message
Error message: "
ERROR: You appear to be running an X server; please exit X before installing. For further details, please see the section INSTALLING
THE NVIDIA DRIVER in the README available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com. "

Please uninstall the .run installer driver using the --uninstall option and use the packaged driver instead:
