Intel (Power Saving Mode) PRIME profile unavailable in NVIDIA X Server Settings

Intel (Power Saving Mode) cannot be selected / greyed out / unavailable in PRIME Profile selection in NVIDIA X Server Settings on a system with an integrated Intel GPU and discrete NVIDIA GPU.

A reply in 220665/2 says (sorry, link count restricted to 4 for new users)

The switch is ia patched version of nvidia-settings by ubuntu, rather report it to their bug tracker.

However Ubuntu Manpage: nvidia-settings - configure the NVIDIA graphics driver states

If there are other things you would like to see added (or better yet, would like to add yourself), please contact linux-bugs@nvidia.com

and an NVIDIA copyright notice is shown.

Is this the correct place to report this bug? The bug still exists after more than 2 years, see

Note: enabling/disabling intel power saving mode should take effect without restarting session.
