Jetson xavier NX module does not use usb hub chip，can the usb interface work?

Without using the usb hub chip, can the USB interface be directly connected to the usb2.0 port (pin115, pin117). Can the USB work normally?

USB 2.0 MODE:HOST and Device
Do these two modes require software control? Or is the nx module automatically detected when the usb device is plugged in?
