MCX516A-CCAT Both ports not working at the same time

Hello,

I have a MCX516A-CCAT 100Gbe NIC with 2 ports. My goal is to utilize both ports with a 10G SFP+ transceiver adapter. However, I’m unable to get both ports sending/receiving data at the same time. Whichever port I plug in first is the one that works. For testing, I haave 2 separate computers connected to each port, trying to ping the respective IP address for each port. Pinging is successful on both ports when individually connected, but only one computer gets a ping response when both ports are plugged in.

Additional steps we have already tried:

  1. Attempted to override “slot power limit control” as mentioned in another post here: ConnectX-5 cable error/One or more network ports have been powered down due to insufficient/unadvertised power on the PCIe slot
  2. I am using firmware version 16.35.1012, verified by updating firmware as recommended in this post: MCX516A-CCAT : Unable to get both ports working

Any recommendations on getting both ports to work would be very helpful!

Thanks,
-Austin

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your inquiry on the NVIDIA Community.

I am having difficulty understanding some of your points, but I recommend the following steps to address your issue:
Upgrade Firmware and MLNX OFED
Please update both the firmware and MLNX OFED to the latest versions:
Firmware Downloads
MLNX OFED for Linux

Assign Different Subnets to Interfaces
Configure two different subnets for your interfaces. For example, assign 192.168.100.1/24 to one interface and 172.168.100.1/24 to the other.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us:

Thank you,
Mellanox Technical Support

Thank you for the response. This issue has been resolved.

Assigning different subnets to each interface solved my problem, and allowed both ports to work simultaneously.

Thanks!
-Austin
