NV43+ 304.64 + kernel 2.6.38 - black screen when restoring from hibernate (S4)

  • Steps to reproduce: - switch to tty console while running X11 - run test script containing:

    echo devices > /sys/power/pm_test
    echo platform > /sys/power/disk
    echo disk > /sys/power/state

    • the system will hibernate and return back from hibernation. Console works fine, machine is not locked while in tty1
    • try to return to X11 (alt-F7) - the screen will be blanked out, no response from video card.

    machine is not locked, possible to log on via ssh.
    Same result when trying to hibernate from XFce
    Same problem/bug was with old driver 280.13

    Xorg.0.log contains:

    (II) Open ACPI successful (/var/run/acpid.socket)
    (WW) Mar 31 21:56:54 NVIDIA(GPU-0): Failed to enter interactive mode.
    (II) Mar 31 21:56:54 NVIDIA(0): Setting mode “nvidia-auto-select”
    (EE) Mar 31 21:56:54 NVIDIA(0): Failed to initiate mode change

    the console is completely blocked until remotely X server is killed, then it respawns fine.

    drzraf: there are no kernel oops in my case.
    Kernel is working properly, modules look fine too - there are no other errors in logs.
    The only problem is how NVIDIA hardware behaves.
    If it occurres on server machine with console not used very often I wouldn’t even report it.
