NVidia graphics driver (460.xx) stops working after a while on Ubuntu 18.08.
It fork just fine for a while but then ‘nvidia-smi’ outputs that it is gone. Reinstalling it helps but
then situation repeats. It can work for days before this happens.
Please run nvidia-bug-report.sh as root and attach the resulting nvidia-bug-report.log.gz file to your post.

Thank I didn’t know about this. Will definitely do it next time problem arise.
Hi, I have a similar problem. Things were working fine until a reboot, then these problems occurred:
- only one out of my two monitors were detected
- the output of
nvidia-smi
is the following:
NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
I attached the bug report!

You used the runfile installer without dkms to install the driver so it gets lost on kernel updates.
Please uninstall the runfile driver, then use “Software&Updates” to install the driver from repo.
