NVIDIA GPU Cards that operate on PCIe x16 slots wired for x4 only

I have an MSI motherboard (MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wifi). It has two x16 slots.

  • The first is wired for full 4.0 x16 operation and supports newer GPUs.
  • The second is only wired for up to 4.0 x4 operation. However, it is x16 width.

The issue is that I want to add a second GPU for deep learning. When I place a second GPU in the x4 slot, Ubuntu fails to recognize the card and it cannot boot up. I have an RTX A4000 and a 2070 Super.

Is there a card, perhaps a 10-series, 16-series, or older RTX cards that can still operate on a x4 slot?

Both gpus should even work pcie x1, miners do that all the time.
