NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver

this seems to happen many times here so I did check versions and all. They look ok thought

dkms status
nvidia, 530.30.02, 5.15.0-72-generic, x86_64: installed

dpkg -l | grep nvidia-driver 
ii  nvidia-driver-530                          530.30.02-0ubuntu1                  amd64        NVIDIA driver metapackage

apt-cache policy cuda-drivers
cuda-drivers:

cat /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf

still I get this when checking the installation.

NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.

I allready tried to purge and reinstall the nvidia-drivers. With many reboots before checking again.
Anything else I could try ?

Unfortunatetly there has been no answer to that and I didn’t find any solution.

reinstalled the whole machine
