I have just installed 2 Geforce RTX cards into my linux machine, an RTX 2080 and RTX 2060. nvidia-smi & the Nvidia Settings UI report conflicting information re: “GPU 0” & “GPU 1”. GPU 0 should be the 2080, it is installed in the first PCI-E slot. The 2060 should be GPU 1.
