Opening Extension window crashes Isaac Sim 4.2.0

Topic Description

Detailed Description

Whenever I launch Isaac Sim from the Omniverse Launcher and open the extension window, the sim crashes. Here’s what happens:

  1. I open the Omniverse Launcher.

  2. I launch the Isaac Sim App from the Omniverse Launcher.

  3. No ROS bridge, distro, or additional arguments are selected.

  4. Isaac Sim launches.

  5. I go to Windows > Extension.

At this point, the sim gets stuck. I waited for over an hour and it remained frozen. If I click anywhere, the “Not Responding” popup appears.

Not sure if it’s relevant, but I see the following warning in the terminal when I click on Extensions (Check Error Message section)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Omniverse Launcher.

  2. Launch Isaac Sim.

  3. No ROS bridge or distro selected, no additional arguments.

  4. Go to Windows > Extension.

The sim freezes and remains unresponsive after that.

Have you ever successfully opened the extension manager on Isaac Sim 4.2.0 before? Could you share the complete log? Please upgrade to the latest version, 4.5.0.

Yess, it used to work perfectly before. When i installed the vscode extension, it was slightly buggy and wouldn’t open sometimes but nothing too serious. It wouldn’t crash the sim or anything like that.

Also about version 4.5.0, I’m hesitant to upgrade to it since some of the libraries and projects I work on were made on 4.2.0 and I’m not sure how exactly the new version would work with it. I also think I might have to change code to the latest version which isn’t feasible for me right now.

The txt file attached is the complete log i believe.
