Recently, I ran into an issue after uninstalling the previously well-functioning Isaac Sim v4.2.0, which I had installed via the Omniverse Launcher (the most convenient and reliable method). I decided to upgrade to v4.5.0, unaware of the complications ahead.

Unlike before, there is no longer a one-click install option in the Omniverse Launcher. Instead, clicking “Install” redirects to NVIDIA’s Isaac Sim documentation, which provides a multi-step manual installation process. Ironically, navigating this “Omniverse” of documentation feels like exploring a multiverse of instructions.

I carefully followed the installation steps outlined in the documentation. However, after installation, Isaac Sim launches but immediately freezes and becomes unresponsive. Additionally, I noticed that my GPU resources no longer appear under memory resources, as they did previously.

Prior to this, when I installed Isaac Sim via the Omniverse Launcher, everything worked seamlessly on my system. Now, I’m struggling to get it running properly.

  1. Uninstall Previous Version: Uninstalled Isaac Sim v4.2.0 using the Omniverse Launcher (previously installed in the D drive).
  2. Delete Residual Files: Deleted folders including ‘pkg’, ‘cache’, ‘Downloads’, and ‘data’ from the D drive.
  3. Attempt to Install New Version: Returned to the Omniverse Launcher to download v4.5.0. Instead of the usual ‘Install’ button, only an ‘External Link’ was available, redirecting to the documentation.
  4. Download Latest Release: Followed the link to download the latest Isaac Sim release. Navigated to the ‘Workstation Installation’ page.
  5. Follow Installation Steps: Adhered strictly to the instructions provided on the page, installing the software in the recommended C drive directory.
  6. Installation Completion: Completed the installation as per the guidelines.
  7. Run Isaac Sim App Selector: Executed the command for Isaac Sim App Selector (isaac-sim.selector.bat).
  8. Launch Application: The App Selector window appeared, and I clicked ‘Start’.
  9. Application Freezes: Although the application initially started, it soon froze and became unresponsive, requiring a forced shutdown.
  10. GPU Resource Issue: Noticed that GPU resources no longer appear under memory resources, which could be related to the underlying problem.

The initial launch may take some time. Have you waited long enough?

Could you provide more details about this observation? Additionally, could you share a screenshot of it?

I encountered the same issue when installing Isaac Sim 4.5.0 for the first time. The initial launch takes longer than usual, as the system needs to complete setup processes

You can wait until the installation is progressing successfully where the terminal will show the log message:
Isaac Sim Full App is loaded

Once the initial installation is completed, subsequent launches will be significantly faster. I recommend waiting until this message appears before if you doesn’t have other issues.

Omniverse Launcher, Nucleus Workstation, and Nucleus Cache will be deprecated and will no longer be available starting October 1, 2025. Functionality may be reduced If these applications are used after this date.

I am also having the same issue. I used be to able to run isaacim 4.2.0 but when I uninstalled it and was prompted to download 4.5.0 I ran into the same issue. My computer will open up the sim selector. I click on IsaacSim Full. A window pops up and i am able to click on different tabs such as assets, content, and console. Then in the bottom right corner when it begins loading /home/usr/isaacsim/kit/resources/icons/sounds my computer completely freezes and I am forced to power it off.

I have tried a couple of solutions.

  1. Reinstalling Isaac Sim
  2. Switching from nvidia driver 570 to 535.

Not sure if that message has anything to do with it.

Has anyone else been running into the issue?
