Does the Orin NX support YUV422 10 bit video encoding?
If not, are there plans to add support for YUV422 10bit?
It would be very unfortunate if such a capable system is fully incapable of encoding HDR video.

The provided context does not explicitly mention the support for YUV422 10-bit video encoding on the Jetson Orin NX. However, it does mention the multimedia capabilities of the Jetson Orin NX, including video encode (dual encode support with NVENC) and other features.
To determine if the Jetson Orin NX supports YUV422 10-bit video encoding, we need to look at the specifications of the NVENC hardware encoder, which is responsible for video encoding on the Jetson Orin NX.
According to the NVIDIA documentation, the NVENC hardware encoder on the Jetson Orin NX supports various video encoding formats, including H.264, H.265, and VP9. However, the documentation does not explicitly mention YUV422 10-bit as a supported format.
In comparison, the Jetson AGX Orin, which is a more powerful module, also uses the NVENC hardware encoder and supports a wider range of video encoding formats, including YUV422 10-bit.
While there is no explicit mention of YUV422 10-bit video encoding support on the Jetson Orin NX, it is possible that it may be supported through software encoding or other workarounds. However, without explicit confirmation from NVIDIA, it is difficult to say for certain.
In terms of plans to add support for YUV422 10-bit video encoding on the Jetson Orin NX, there is no information available in the provided context. However, NVIDIA regularly updates its documentation and releases new software and firmware updates, so it is possible that support for YUV422 10-bit video encoding may be added in the future.
In summary, while the Jetson Orin NX has impressive multimedia capabilities, including video encoding, there is no explicit mention of YUV422 10-bit video encoding support in the provided context. However, it is possible that support may be added in the future through software updates or other means.

Thank you for the feedback. The Orin NX definitely supports YUV420, and I have seen reports that it supports YUV444. Your response neither confirms or denies the possibility of YUV422 on the Orin NX.
Is this support possible? Are there plans to implement? Why would the hardware support YUV444 but not YUV422?
Thanks again,
Jacob
Hi,
The hardware H265 encoder in Orin supports YUV420 8 bits, 10 bits, YUV444 8 bits. YUV422 8 bits and 10 bits are not supported.
