"Pageflip timed out! This is a bug in the nvidia-drm kernel driver" on external display, internal display doing fine

What happened ?
I just dragged a window to my second monitor, release the mouse and reclicked to click on a link. The second monitor froze instantly, with the logs in journalctl asking me to report this with two logs (provided). My internal monitor was still working fine.

I didn’t managed to get the external monitor to unfreeze by switch to another user using Ctrl + Alt + F4 (i think F3 and higher works, but not F2 and F1). Now it works correctly, even though i will reboot just as a security precaution.

You forgot to mention the driver version you are using. This should be fixed in the latest beta driver 575.51.02.

I have been having blank display issues since the 5/19/2025 latest driver. I experienced this problem in Windows 11 after installing new driver from NVIDIA app. I thought I had really messed up somehow so I began a fresh windows 11 install and during windows update the display failed again. I had removed the device driver from device manager. That didn’t work. I think started a fresh Fedora 42 KDE install (no VM). It is causing the error you describe in my journalctrl. I am rolling back driver to march.
