Possible to get 2560 x 1140 from 440.64 driver

I’ve just bought a quadro k4200, installed it in a Dell t7810, installed ubuntu 20.04 linux, and connected to a samsung c32jg50 monitor by display port cable. Ubuntu installed the nvidia 440.64 driver and it has set the max resolution at 1920 x 1080. The screen is supposed to do up to 2560x1440. Is there a way to change my card to support this?
Thx, J

Please run nvidia-bug-report.sh as root and attach the resulting nvidia-bug-report.log.gz file to your post. You will have to rename the file ending to something else since the forum software doesn’t accept .gz files (nifty!).

nvidia-bug-report.log (362.0 KB)

This is a gz file, if you rename it and add .gz to the end.
Thanks a bunch, J

Looks like the monitor is switched to DP1.1, please use the monitor’s OSD menu to switch it to DP1.2.

It may have been, not sure, but it is set to 1.2 now. What should I do next? Thx.

The problem is that the monitor sends an edid that tells it only supports 1920x1080@60 so I suspected it was set to DP1.1. Please post the output of
xrandr --props
with monitor set to DP1.2.
Do you use some kind of converter or plain DP cable? Did you already check replacing the cable?

Thx. J

sending file didn’t work, here it is in all its glory

The monitor still tells it only supports 1080p. If you’re not using any converters and the cable is fully functional, you should contact Samsung support about it.

Thanks, for that, will give it a try. I’m not using any converters, and it is the cable that came in the box, so you would expect it to work.

Best,

J

Thanks generix, it turns out the monitor I was sold … is not what I’ve been delivered! So this is in fact the max resolution this one will handle! So you and all the messages were correct, thanks for help and sorting this one out.

Best, J
