Dear all,
I am trying to start a paraview server on our cluster in order for visualization. I’d like to use the rendering capabilities of our 2 Tesla K40c GPUs.
However, starting an Xserver (without any displays attached) is impossible.
I recieve the following error message:
[user@node ~]$ xinit
(EE)
Fatal server error:
(EE) PAM authentication failed, cannot start X server.
Perhaps you do not have console ownership?

Using ssh -X in order to start X applications such as gedit, xeyes and xclock work. However glxinfo and glxgears on the other hand don’t.
Prior to the upgrade of the Nvidia driver and CUDA, starting an xserver was working properly.
I have attached the nvidia bug reports log.
Thank you for any indications, where to locate the source of this issue.
