Apologies in advance if my question seems silly. I have an A100 80GB but, due to the lack of the rest of the server compatible with this card, I want to use it on an ordinary PC for a while. I have a special cooler for it. However, as of now, even though the system (Ubuntu, Microsoft 2016) recognizes it, it shows an error with the driver. I have tried various things but nothing seems to work. Moreover, it doesn’t even heat up after turning on the computer. My motherboard is an ASUS X99-A and I use a 1080 video card. For this short period, would it perhaps be worthwhile to consider purchasing a different motherboard where it will undoubtedly be compatible? I am very hopeful that the card is functioning properly, although it saddens me that I can’t get it to work. I appreciate your help in advance and am hopeful that I will be able to get it up and running.
Hi @krystianostrowski043 and welcome to the NVIDIA developer forums.
I am sorry but the A100 and similar GPUs are designed to work in certified Server installations only. Even though it is PCIe, there is no officially supported way to install it in a consumer grade Mainboard. And if for some reason the GPU breaks in that setup you might even void the warranty.
So I recommend you work with your ISV or check the NVIDIA Qualified system catalog to find a proper installation environment.
Thanks!
