Questions about Orgin Nano Dev Kit UART

Our company has grown an interest into Jetson Orgin Nano Developer Kit, but we still have some questions before purchasing.

On the hardware spec I see the UART “Device clock up to 68 MHz, baud rate of 4.25 Mbits/second.”. Does it mean the clock src and freq can be modified? We expect UART to operate at 2M/2.5M/3M, wonder if possible?

We also plan to use the UART on GPIO and M.2, since we need 2 UART instances for sensors and drives in our application (UART 2 on J14 is occupied for debugging). While GPIO one is usually seen on other development boards, M.2 is not. We plan to design our own M.2 Key E module to translate 1.8V to 3.3V, and expect the UART to operate at 2M/2.5M/3M too, is it also possible? Just asking to be sure.

Thanks!

Hi fishboneek,

Yes, I believe 3M could be achieved.

It sounds good to me to use the UART from 40-pins expansion header and M.2 Key E port for custom usage respectively.

You also can refer to https://elinux.org/Jetson/L4T/peripheral/#Mapping_3 for the UART mapping.

Thanks! Very helpful!
