Quick Question - IOSTAT

i have a quick question.

when i use “read” statement in pgf90 and execute, the result shows IOSTAT number 251.

what means IOSTAT=251 ?

Sorry for the late reply. Message 251 means that you have an illegal character in your format string. In general, you can find out the meaning of these codes by either referring to the PGI User’s guide section called “Fortran Run-time Error Messages” or by adding a call to the function “get_iostat_msg(integer iostat, character* msg)” in your program. As of the 8.0 compilers we also added the F2003 IOMSG Specifier.
