Request for guidance on adapting NVIDIA Aerial to LiteON FR2 O-RU

Hi NVIDIA Aerial Team,

We are currently working with NVIDIA Aerial CUDA-Accelerated RAN and would like to understand how Aerial can be adapted to a LiteON FR2 O-RU.

We have already been testing Aerial with sub-6 GHz O-RU setups, and we are now interested in extending the setup to FR2. From the available Aerial documentation and examples, it is not fully clear what changes are required when moving from an FR1 O-RU configuration to a LiteON FR2 O-RU.

Could you provide some guidance on the following points?

  1. O-RU integration path

    • Has Aerial already been validated with LiteON FR2 O-RU?

    • Is there any reference configuration, sample YAML/XML, or internal adaptation flow that can be shared?

    • Are there LiteON-specific parameters that must be modified in the Aerial front-haul configuration?

  2. Front-haul and eCPRI configuration

    • What are the key differences in the eCPRI / O-RAN 7.2x configuration for LiteON FR2 compared with FR1 O-RU?

    • Are there specific requirements for VLAN, MTU, timing, compression, section type, or PRACH configuration?

    • Does the FR2 setup require different C/U-plane mapping or beam-related configuration?

  3. Beamforming and antenna configuration

    • How should the beam ID, beamforming weight, and antenna-port mapping be configured for LiteON FR2?

    • Does Aerial currently support static beam configuration only, or is dynamic beam switching supported for this type of O-RU?

    • Are there any recommended test modes for initial bring-up, such as single-beam SSB or fixed beam PDSCH?

  4. Timing and synchronization

    • Are there any additional PTP / SyncE / 1PPS requirements for LiteON FR2 O-RU?

    • Is the standard G.8275.1 PTP configuration used in the Aerial testbed sufficient, or are additional timing constraints needed for FR2?

  5. Bandwidth, numerology, and RF parameters

    • Which FR2 bandwidth and SCS combinations have been tested with Aerial?

    • Are there known limitations for 100 MHz / 200 MHz / 400 MHz FR2 configurations?

    • How should Point A, SSB frequency, ARFCN, and LO-related parameters be configured for LiteON FR2?

  6. Software and branch requirements

    • Is LiteON FR2 support available in the public Aerial release, or does it require a specific branch, patch, or partner package?

    • Are there any required changes in cuBB, OAI gNB, or the Aerial front-haul library?

Our goal is to bring up a LiteON FR2 O-RU with Aerial and understand the minimum required changes from a working FR1 Aerial setup. Any reference configuration, bring-up checklist, or recommended debug procedure would be very helpful.

No, we don’t support FR2, and unfortunately, we have no plans to add it to the current roadmap. However, our partner SynaXG modified our Aerial code and successfully validated FR2 O-RU (please see this press release). It is SynaXG’s proprietary implementation. Please ask them or text me if you need their solution.

Since we at NVIDIA have no experience integrating with the FR2 O-RU, we have no answers to your questions.
