RTX 2070 Super 8GB VRAM overflow result into massiv frame drops Proton/Arch

System:

Ryzen 3600x
32GB DDR4 RAM
1TB NVME SSD Samsung 980Pro
RTX 2070 Super 8GB

Running God of War on EndeavourOs, Proton Experimental via Steam with nvidia 555.x or 560.x drivers with DLSS in quality mode, 1440p on Medium (Original Mode) game settings … starting the game with about 5.8GiB of used VRAM… after playing about 30 mins > it grows up to the max of 7.9/8.0 GiB and the FPS drops from AVG 80 to AVG 38.

Reproducable with any kind of game which uses some textures.

The VRAM just grows. There seems to be no “garbage collection” or anything else. It will not get flushed or cleaned up at any time > it is just growing until its limit is reached and the RAM is used. But then the performance goes down to the half of the possible FPS or less.

That makes playing games not possible.

I could play the game also with high mode with round about 60-70fps without no problem. But that will cause the problem after a few seconds as it uses more space for textures.

Looks same as this issue : Non-existent shared VRAM on NVIDIA Linux drivers
