RTXGI in Arc Raiders UE5.3

The huge success of Arc Raiders (4 million copies sold so far and 700 000 concurrent players) with many people praising the performance of the game for an Unreal title, demonstrates the need for lighter more performance friendly solutions in gaming.

The game was developed in Unreal 5.3 and uses an updated version of RTXGI instead of the much heavier Lumen or Nividia’s ReSTIR GI.

RTXGI was discontinued by Nvidia after Unreal 5.0 and although the source is still available it is no simple task to compile it in later versions of Unreal, but the developers of Arc Raiders managed to do it in Unreal 5.3.

I would like to make the suggestion to Nvidia to consider updating RTXGI for the latest versions of Unreal, as a lighter more performance friendly GI solution that developers desperately need.

Lumen aint so bad as people make it out to be, sure its heavier than rtxgi but im able to get about 70 fps on 1080p on full epic + hit lighting in a moderate scene, ah yeah, with a 2060 equivalent card.

If nvidia decides to work on this again they will need to extend it so it supports vulkan besides DX12.

Lumen works on Metal,Vulkan and DX, while RTXGI is DX12 exlusive.

Lumen compared to RTXGI IS VERY BAD. Try to run this on GTX 1050, while Arc Raiders is doing the job on 1050 with 20-30 fps.
