Should I ditch my Quadro Fx 1700 for a GeForce?

Hello all,

I am just starting with CUDA and I am running a Quadro FX 1700 card which only has 4 SMs. Should I switch to a GeForce 9800 or another GeForce card with 16 SMs?

Well in the past all the Quadro and Geforce were the same hardware almost with diffrent bios and drivers. I had nvida 6800 and i unlocked in to a quadro . The more shaders the better . Quadro usually is geforce with diffrent (full) openGL driver.

There’s no need to switch if you’re just starting. When you have a specific problem to solve you can start estimating what kind of hardware you need. 4 SMs are just fine for the beginning.
