The Elder Scrolls IV: REMASTERED

GPU Underutilization Issue with “The Elder Scrolls IV: REMASTERED”

Hey everyone,

I’m having a compatibility issue with “The Elder Scrolls IV: REMASTERED” on my Linux system. My NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU is not being fully utilized, which is causing poor performance and stuttering during gameplay.

System Info

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU
  • Driver Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 570.133.07
  • Kernel Version: 6.13.9-103.bazzite.fc42.x86_64
  • Proton Version: proton-experimental

Symptoms

The GPU is running at around 90W out of 175W, leading to suboptimal performance and low frame rates.

How to Reproduce

  1. Launch “The Elder Scrolls IV: REMASTERED” via Steam.
  2. Monitor GPU usage with a tool like mangohud.
  3. Notice that the GPU power consumption doesn’t exceed 90W, indicating underutilization.

I’m seeing similar power usage on my 5090, seems limited to ~370W rather than using all 575W

It’s already fix with the proton experimental bleeding Edge update :
