Hi, I’d like to report a regression with the Linux driver version 455.23 that makes The Elder Scrolls Online unplayable.

Hardware setup: Nvidia GTX 2060
OS: Kubuntu Linux 20.04 (64bit) using an X session (not Wayland)
Steam build: Oct 2 2020, at 01:51:33, Steam package version 1601659798
Proton version: 5.0 [next] (5.0.9 with beta)
Affected driver version: 455.23.04-0ubuntu0~0.20.04.1 from https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
Not affected driver version: 450.66-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 from https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start Steam
  2. Start The Elder Scrolls online using Proton/Steam Play
  3. In the ESO launcher, click on the “Play” button

Expected behavior:
A graphic loading screen, and after a few seconds the login screen. This is with driver 450.66.

Actual behavior:
A black screen, and no login screen even after waiting 1 or 2 minutes. This is with driver 455.23.04.

Driver 460.32 still has this problem.

This might be specific to the RTX 2060. (On a friend’s machine with a GTX 970, this problem does not occur.)
