- N/A – Docker/container runtime issue; kernel 6.1.132-rt49-prod-rt-tegra
Docker exec fails on a Tegra aarch64 platform, while docker run -it works.
Environment:
- Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS
- Kernel: 6.1.132-rt49-prod-rt-tegra
- Docker Engine: 29.8.0
- containerd: 2.3.5
- runc: 1.5.1-0-g8f2685a4
Reproduction with a minimal container:
- docker run -it works normally.
- docker exec -it /bin/bash fails:
OCI runtime exec failed: open /dev/pts/ptmx: no such file or directory - docker exec /bin/true also fails:
OCI runtime exec failed: open /proc/sys/kernel/cap_last_cap: no such file or directory
The host paths exist. The host also successfully mounts devpts with:
mount -t devpts devpts -o newinstance,ptmxmode=0666,mode=620
The OCI spec generated for the container includes /proc, /dev, and /dev/pts mounts. The issue reproduces without GPU, X11, bind mounts, or application code.
Please help investigate the container runtime exec path on this Tegra RT platform.Since the OCI spec contains the required mounts and the issue occurs only during docker exec, we suspect a possible runc exec-path compatibility issue with this Tegra RT platform.
