Hi NVIDIA Team, We are currently researching the feasibility of a high-speed boot prototype on the NVIDIA Thor architecture. Our primary goal is to achieve a < 5 seconds “boot-to-display” (Early Boot Display) using the QNX Hypervisor + Ubuntu dual-OS architecture. To decouple external hardware variables in the early development stage, we plan to initialize the TPG (Test Pattern Generator) and the Display Controller (DCP) during the Secondary Bootloader (SBL) or early boot phase, before eventually integrating a physical GMSL2 camera. We would like to ask for your architectural advice: Feasibility: Is achieving a sub-5-second boot-to-display feasible on the Thor architecture utilizing the DRIVE OS Safety (QNX) stack? Recommended Pipeline: Are there any official guidelines, reference applications, or recommended NvMedia/NvSci pipelines for enabling TPG or camera pass-through during the early boot phase? SBL & Device Tree Configuration: What is the standard procedure to strip down unnecessary SBL initialization (e.g., bypassing USB/PCIe enumeration) and safely bring up the display controller early without breaking the downstream OS boot sequence? Any architectural insights, standard operating procedures, or links to relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, Thank you for the quick clarification! To be precise, the hardware we purchased is the Jetson AGX Thor Developer Kit, so we will be operating within the JetPack SDK / Jetson Linux ecosystem (not DRIVE OS or IGX-SW). Since we are on the Jetson platform (Ubuntu-based) and QNX is not part of this stack, we understand that a < 5 seconds cold boot to video display is practically unachievable. We will adjust our project scope accordingly. Given these JetPack constraints, we still want to achieve the fastest possible “boot-to-display” time for our robotics prototype. Could you kindly advise on the following for the Jetson AGX Thor: Cold Boot Optimization: Are there official guidelines or best practices for Jetson Linux on Thor to aggressively strip down the SBL, Kernel, and Systemd to minimize the cold boot time to a display/camera application? Suspend-to-RAM (SC7): If cold boot is too slow, we are considering utilizing Suspend-to-RAM for an “instant-on” experience. Does Jetson AGX Thor fully support SC7 deep sleep? Are there any known issues with waking up high-speed interfaces (like MIPI CSI or GMSL2 via deserializers) from the suspended state? Thanks again for steering us in the right direction!

Is the ask for Drive Thor platform? On IGX Thor, the latest release is
IGX-SW 2.0 is now live

QNX Hypervisor is not supported on this release. And it cannot achieve < 5 seconds boot-to-display.
