Ubuntu 22.04 LTS NVIDIA driver installation fail

Dear NVIDIA forum,

I have the big honor to install, after I managed to do this once, an eGPU (NVIDIA RTX 2070) in Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS. I can’t remember, how I did it the last time, I only remember that it was a huge hassle. This time, I am stuck with no clue to proceed.
Ubuntu was set up very recently. The NVIDIA drivers were installed by running the .run file, apt install nvidia- as well as via the “Additional Drivers” window. But nothing.
The eGPU is well connected and I can even navigate through the GRUB loader with it on my monitor connected to the eGPU.

Please find attached the logs. Yes, I purge multiple times everything and installed it again. Neither nvidia-settings -q all nor nvidia-smi giving meaningful output.
I switched between waylands and X11, used nvidia-settings to change PRIME to advanced etc…

I am looking forward for any clues.
