I have with some difficulty managed to install the latest NVIDIA drivers (180.22 pkg2, Jan 9 release) on my Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit system. The graphics card on the system is GTX 280.
The CUDA 2.1 as well as CUDA 2.0 list drivers that have older revisions. I am wondering if I can proceed with current 180.22 drivers and partially install the CUDA programs.
Comments on whether I should use CUDA 2.1 or 2.0 will be appreciated as there is no explicit mention on Ubuntu 8.10 on the NV site. When I select Ubuntu 8.04 only CUDA 2.1 beta is enumerated in the list.
Thanks,
nrs
