When using DisplayPort to HDMI Cables the Monitor FPS cappes at 30Hz

Using Fedora 42 (wayland) i ran into a problem regarding my monitor setup. I have Displayport Out on my NVIDIA GTX3070 (nvidia driver 570.144) so i used a DP 1.2 to HDMI Cable. When using any DP to HDMI cable the Framerate of the monitor is capped to 30hz / 29,97hz in UHD (3840x21060px) - in 1920x1080 it works with 60hz / 59,94hz.

I’ve tried two different DP to HDMI cables (which both meet the criterias for 4k 60p) on three different monitors (native 4k) - and ran into the problem every time. So I am sure it’s not a hardware issue. When using an HDMI to HDMI cable every monitor works at 60hz in UHD.

I am not sure if this is a wayland issue or has to do with the NVIDIA drivers, so i am posting it here.

With the NVIDIA support chat I’ve tried installing different drivers. Version: 565.77 and 570.133 - since that did not work i was sent here.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Plug a 4k monitor into a gtx 3070 with a Displayport to HDMI Cable
  2. In settings you can only set 29,97hz / 30hz for the monitor in 3840x2160p
  3. xrand shows that i can only use the monitor in 30hz regardless of the resolution
  4. when seting the resolution in settings to 1920x1080px you can use the monitor at 60hz
