This happens with the latest 580 driver as well as the latest 590 beta driver. I can confirm that it’s (very likely) a problem unique to Linux Nvidia driver:
Game works under DX11/DXVK on Nvidia
Game works under DX12/VKD3D on integrated graphics, ray tracing on and off
Game works under DX12 on Windows (confirmed by Youtube clips)
Game does not work (stuck after logging on) under DX12/VKD3D with Nvidia driver: Wayland on and off, NVAPI enabled and disabled, with latest kernel, Proton and VKD3D
Game launcher used: Heroic (mihoyo launcher skipped)
No logs of significance can be collected from dmesg, user journalctl, game launcher, and Wine.
Attached are the reports collected by nvidia-bug-report.sh. In case there’re Wine developers monitoring this thread I’ve also collected a vkd3d.log (at level trace)
this error just living in some different areas. for example. if run games with dx11 and go to video store in game, after shut down the game and run with dx12, game is starting without issue. but when you go scot outpost, game is crashing. thats really weird
I have an update trying to use Nsight frame debugger.
When I tries to use “capture frame” as the game is loading (which is when the game would stuck and its pid disappears from ps if a debugger isn’t connected), the game crashes (expected) and frame capture fails. I’m not a Nvidia developer, I hope there could be a moderator @amrits monitoring this thread and give me some advice on using Nsight Graphics to help with debugging.
I also noticed (happened to successfully start the game under DX12 only once) that rendering with DLSS is borked. Everything is black. Switching off DLSS fixes the problem. Switch on/off RT doesn’t help.
okay thats more weird now. did you tried with nvidia-550 driver? I was write this issue on a reddit posts under. someones said he have a some issue with me and dont starting in yunkui summit. but your issue is really different. I tested in 590 and still starting in video store
