Before creating an account, I looked through all the forums for a fix to get a 6-monitor setup working with 2× RTX 4080 on Debian 12. However, it seems that RTX cards have a maximum support of 5 monitors. Despite that, I am struggling to even run 4 monitors.
There are always issues—if I set nvidia-drm in GRUB, I boot into only one monitor. If I use only nomodeset, I can use 4 monitors, but you can imagine the performance.
It was also recommended to use KDE, so I tried it, going through countless reboots and dealing with KDE’s awful default theme. But even then, it was not a proper fix for running 4 monitors. I have experimented with both NVIDIA Mosaic and Xorg X11, but I am still unable to find a proper fix.
I was then advised to use 2 Quadro GPUs. Before I spend money on those, I want to ask: will they work on Debian 12? What configurations would I need?
First, I need help fixing my current setup of 4 monitors on one GPU—I am exhausted trying to get it to work.
4 on 1 card should work out of the box on any distro or DE (unless you have 8k displays which require 2 heads).
I have run up to 7 displays on 3 different gpus, however i had issues when i tried to use 2 nvidia-gpus, so that leads me to the question if you have tried it with only 1 nvidia card installed. Maybe its a specific dual-nvidia issue.
Yes , it is specific nvidia issue , I am going to erase xorg configs and re-install fresh , as I faced this issue earlier and after fresh installation , all the 4 monitors worked , or else , will turn off all the monitors and remove their power cords , wait for 1 minute and restart.
Only solution it seems to me is , quadro which has NVIDIA Mosaic.
I can confirm now that , after fresh installation of xorg , completely removing all the configs and fresh installation , I got all the 4 gpus working. Will order quadros and replace with RTX and will try the 6 monitor setup.
6 monitors here working across 2 nvidia gpus (3080ti and 4060). As of the 570 drivers, everything should just show up in Plasma Wayland or X11 without any special configurations.
NO way , I tried everything and still nothing shows up when using the second gpu.
Anyone here to guide me ?
