340.17 64-bit Linux Checksum Error

When I try to run the full installer NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.17.run, I get the message:
Verifying archive integrity… Error in check sums 2757098116 1343078515

The no-compat32 version works just fine, but that is no good for my desktop machines. I have downloaded this multiple times with different browsers and wget, but always get the same output.

Hi scottknight,

It sounds like your download was corrupted. Where did you download the file from?

It was. I just couldn’t believe it. I have a centralized script that downloads both the full and no-compat32 versions and distributes them to the computers on the network with rsync. Apparently, I downloaded a version of the file that was broken and it got distributed to all of the desktops. Subsequent downloads of the file pulled a good version to the central server, but since the destination files are exactly the same size and timestamp, they didn’t get updated. Checksum was indeed different. Even diff caught it (good on the bottom):

Thanks, Scott

p.s. Feel free to delete this thread since it doesn’t do anyone any good.

Yikes, I wonder how that happened. Well, that’s what the checksum is there for!
