Alt-Bionics: Inquiry Regarding Contribution to Isaac Sim Ecosystem

Hello NVIDIA and Isaac Sim Team,

My name is Hope Caylor and I’m the Physical AI Engineer at Alt Bionics [Alt-Bionics]. We design and build dexterous robotic hands, and I’m reaching out to explore how we might contribute our latest hand, Surge, to the Isaac Sim ecosystem.

Surge is a 6-DOF robotic hand, focusing on modularity, durability, and Industrial usage. As dexterous manipulation becomes central to humanoid and general-purpose robotics, we believe Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab users would benefit from more 6-DOF hand options in the asset library. Surge could offer researchers and developers another well-validated choice for grasping, in-hand manipulation, and sim-to-real work.

Since this would be our first time working within the Isaac Sim ecosystem, we’d appreciate any guidance you can offer. In particular, we’d like to know whether there is a formal process or preferred channel for submitting end-effector assets like Surge, and what standards your team recommends for USD assets and related integrations, such as physics properties, joint and articulation setup, actuator or tendon modeling, sensor configuration, and documentation.

If direct contribution isn’t an option right now, we’d welcome your advice on other ways to make Surge accessible to Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab users. We’d also be grateful to be connected with the right team or contact to continue the conversation.

On our end, we’re happy to provide Surge’s technical specifications, CAD files, and existing simulation models, along with more detail on the integrations we’re planning. If a short call would be easier, we’d be glad to find a time that works for you.

Thank you for considering this. We look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Hope Caylor

We will check internally and get back to you shortly.

@hope002 ,

Thank you for reaching out and for your interest in contributing the Surge hand to the Isaac Sim Ecosystem!

Please look out for the SimReady Central announcement at GTC Europe / Berlin. After October 21, SimReady Central will be live, allowing developers to sign up directly, and all instructions for contributing assets will be publicly available.

We appreciate your interest in building with Isaac Sim and look forward to seeing the Surge hand in the ecosystem!
