BlueField-3 B3220 auxiliary 8-pin power connection in Dell PowerEdge XE9680

Hi,

I’m working with an NVIDIA BlueField-3 B3220 DPU installed in a Dell PowerEdge XE9680 and need some clarification regarding the BF3 auxiliary power connection.

The BlueField-3 is being detected, but we have observed messages indicating insufficient PCIe slot power / insufficient power during firmware initialization.

The XE9680 already has the chassis DPU power path connected:

PDB_DPU_PWR1 → PBB_DPU_PWR1

I have physically verified that both ends of this connection are present and properly seated.

We also have an additional Dell power harness that appears intended to provide auxiliary power directly to the 8-pin auxiliary power connector on the BlueField-3.

One end of this harness is an 8-pin connector that fits the BF3 auxiliary power connector. The other end is a Dell proprietary-style connector with a blue pull tab/PCB-style interface.

The harness is labeled:

HPM_PWR11 / HPM_PWR12

The Dell DP/N on the cable appears to be:

DP/N 0MPHHR (MPHHR)

My main question is:

Where should the server-side end of this BF3 auxiliary power harness connect inside a Dell PowerEdge XE9680?

Specifically, I’m trying to determine:

  1. Which XE9680 board receives this connector — PCIe base board, power distribution board, or another board?
  2. What is the exact connector designation on the board (HPM_PWR11, HPM_PWR12, SN_
  3. PWR1, DPU_PWR, etc.)?
  4. Is Dell DP/N 0MPHHR the correct/validated auxiliary power harness for a BlueField-3 B3220 in an XE9680?
  5. Is there an official Dell/NVIDIA cable-routing diagram or installation procedure showing the BF3 8-pin auxiliary-power connection for the XE9680?

I do not want to connect the harness based only on connector fit because I understand the BF3 auxiliary 8-pin power pinout must be correct.

I can provide photographs of the BF3, cable, connectors, and XE9680 internal boards if needed.

Thanks for any guidance
