Bug? Having two monitor connected (X11) causes initial stutter when opening steam

You’re not alone, I have this issue as well. It seems there might be some vsyncing issues with X11 (and XWayland) which seems to become worse with any Vulkan application running with vsync enabled see:

Can confirm, this issue is present since a long time now. Driver: 545.29.06 OS: openSUSE Aeon Gnome 45.3 / X11 VK Cube with VK PRESENT MODE FIFO KHR: vkcube --present_mode 2 [VK PRESENT MODE FIFO KHR] VK Vube with: VK_PRESENT_MODE_IMMEDIATE_KHR: vkcube --present_mode 0 [VK PRESENT MODE IMMEDIATE KHR] VK_PRESENT_MODE_FIFO_RELAXED_KHR and VK_PRESENT_MODE_MAILBOX_KHR seem not to be supported by the vulkan driver at all. At least vk did not launched with these present…

So, when I disable the compositor, the desktop seems to run smooth. No animations and stuff, due to missing compositing, but games run smoothly. Regarding that option for my xorg.conf: It didn’t try that, because I don’t have that config file and couldn’t generate a valid one from my current configuration, so I didn’t add that option and couldn’t try that out.

Maybe some of the steps suggested by the moderators might help?
