Converting images to NVRaw format

Is it possible to convert png or jpg images into the NVraw image format? A tool we have is expecting NVraw images, but we want to use the tool with images that we previously collected and stored as pngs. It isn’t possible to recollect this data or configure the tool differently as we don’t have the source code. Thank you!

hello katherine.mackowiak,

as you can see in the Argus NvRaw Tool section.

nvraw format, also called Bayer raw format, is an NVIDIA proprietary file format for saving Bayer Raw image captures and associated metadata.

it has to be processed with internal ISP engine for saving as NvRaw.

Hello Jerry, thanks for quick explanation about processing NvRaw files with the internal ISP. The Argus NVRaw Tool documentation you linked explains how to create these NvRaw files by capturing new images with a sensor. But I think the OP is asking a different question: is it possible to create NvRaw files by computational means when new capture is not possible? For ex converting old images, or creating synthetic images. I’m interested in doing this also. Is this possible?

hello ben.jacobson,

you may consider it’s NvRaw header + Bayer Raw content to compose *.nvraw
so, it’s doable if you’re adding those NvRaw header to other Raw files.

Thank you Jerry! That would work. How do I separate the header and Bayer Raw content so I can view them separately, compose them, etc.?

And how do I see the format of Bayer Raw used by NvRaw? I have seen many different Bayer Raw formats in the industry.

hello ben.jacobson,

unfortunately, it’s only internal tool able to perform this.
please contact with Jetson Camera Partners for further supports.
