CUDA2.3 + Ubuntu9.04(64bit): Computer freezes when running Mandelbrot well not only this, but any vi

I have installed CUDA 2.3 (along with the 190.18 drivers for 64bit) on my new computer, armed with a GTX-285. The examples (like Mandelbrot) run fine until the mouse cursor enters the window of the example. Like when i try to click and zoom in or pan on the Mandelbrot. Then the whole system freezes, and the only thing that is still alive is the mouse cursor. The sole solution is to hard reset the machine.

Once more, this does not happen only with the Mandelbrot, this was just one case. It happens with any example that presents a visual screen and requires interaction with the mouse

Do you have any idea what might go wrong?

OS: fresh Ubuntu 9.04 64bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 - 920
GPU: EVGA GTX-285

Thanks in advance

edit: The problem only happens with Mandelbrot and marchingCubes after all. Nothing happens with oceanFFT and smokeParticles. Still no ideas?

So i tested it some more. I found that it freezes after ~10 secs. If i kill the process (i.e. Mandelbrot) everything works fine.

Is there a way i can get a log of what’s happening ?
