Desktop software

I’m looking into getting the bundle: https://marketplace.nvidia.com/en-us/enterprise/dgx-spark-bundle/

I do not run close source software on my desktop. I can make an exception if it runs in docker however. I’m concerned about being able to manage the box though, I’m very new to this but seasoned with Linux. Do you have any concerns about being able to setup and maintain these boxes using SSH alone without special desktop software?

If you have anyone running desktop software in Linux + docker, please let me know.

Hi, you have the option to run the Spark without using the desktop (fully remote or not) or you can use RDP protocols or other remote desktop software to access the Spark desktop remotely. We also have the NVIDIA Sync application to more easily manage your device.

NVIDIA Sync is for mac or windows anyways.

So, it looks like I’ll simply take care of the IP address to host mapping myself (ssh tunnels can be pretty slow). Probably setup mDNS (.local domains are great) or just /etc/host map the boxes. Is that the bulk of what NVIDIA sync does?

So, I do not know the full feature list of NVIDIA sync though. Maybe there is no reason for us to try and run NVIDIA sync in a container or other utilities on a box outside of the GDX assuming we are comfortable with tools like rsync, ssh, file mounts, etc.. Now that I think about it, anything from NVIDIA that is really useful and or necessary “should” be able to run on the GDX box directly.

If you can think of any exceptions to this, please let me know.

I am trying, but not very successful. I have cleared my hosts, but still getting such error. Latest sync app.

NVIDIA Sync is also available for Debian/Ubuntu systems, the steps are below the Windows and MacOS instructions. The main point of NVIDIA Sync is convenience for our users but does not have any features that you cannot recreate if you are familiar with the necessary tools.
