DirectX12 performance is terrible on Linux

585 will fix DX12 guys (real)

But actually, whoever tests 580 first, please post here comparing to 575. I will post a comparison when I’m able.

Guess or insider knowledge?

I have zero knowledge unfortunately. It is a joke.

Well, any figment of hope brings joy 🙂

ggwp (thx @ptr1337 for testing)

575

580

has expected honestly.

Yep. 585 waiting room now.

Is that a beta version? Big brains on Reddit said all the issues would be fixed in a non beta version.

Source?

The DX12 improvements will require a lot of changes and would be very unusual to be not included in a beta but included in the final release. Maybe if there is a Beta 2.

580 beta .. Horizon zero dawn… LOL ZERO (pun intended) performance change.

25 FPS in Horizon Forbidden West with a RTX 5090 in 4k without framegen. With framegen about 50 FPS What a joke.

Hi All,
While looking at Horizon Zero Dawn Linux performance we identified a general optimization that benefits multiple titles with VKD3D. It is still in development. We will give an update when it is available.

@amrits Also Please look into the shared vram management like in windows. Ontop of the performance regression on dx12 games, the vram management is also poor. In windows the game runs fine but in linux it stuturs like crazy.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Pick a vram heavy game like The Last of Us Part 1
  2. A system with low vram like 3050 mobile with 4 gb vram
  3. Run the game, even in low settings stuturs like crazy.

The fps difference is a thing but this is equally bad.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say we all have our confetti ready for that moment.

If you want another good test case, then check out Stalker-2, it suffers a whopping %37 hit to performance when compared to Windows, under Linux.

thank you for the update

Great to hear, highly appreciated.

that would be nice to have this fix before version 580 so cards like the gtx 9 and 10 series are corrected before being abandoned .

As a 4070 Ti Super owner who uses Linux, I look forward to a VKD3D fix! Thank you.

yeah exactly
