DLSS 4 Linux support?

I’m considering upgrading from an RTX 4080 Super to an RTX 5080, and the major value proposition is DLSS 4.

I expect DLSS 4 to work out of the box with Steam Play, just as earlier DLSS versions. I’ve tried to research the current state of affairs but found no definitive answers, and I’d appreciate some insight about the current issues, if any.

Thanks in advance!

Hi yes it works. Note that DLSS encompasses several features: SR (super resolution, upscaling), RR (ray reconstruction) and FG (frame gen).

Some games have DLSS support built-in, such as Cyberpunk, and Indiana Jones (after update 3), which do not require the use of environment variables. Game video/graphical settings toggle the correct options as on Windows.

For games that do not offer options in their menus, each feature can be controlled through DXVK-NVAPI and VKD3D via environment variables, which you may set in Steam or Lutris or any other launcher. Examples are given here: DLSS 4 on Linux? : r/linux_gaming, Guide: DLSS 4 Swap For Oblivion Remastered using Proton + DXVK-NVAPI : r/linux_gaming (this ecample works for all games that support DLSS, not only Oblivion), and in this formal documentation: Passing driver settings · jp7677/dxvk-nvapi Wiki with a nice example using Indiana Jones.
