Does this issue happen on both of your DP ports or only one DP port has this issue?
Same device tree setting can work on devkit but not on your custom board, thus, I can only suggest you to review your hardware side.
If the DP is not correctly powered up when you hotplug the cable, then it will give out i2c error and dpaux error too.
