Exactly what low-end cards are supported with CUDA Specifically, is the 8400 supported?

I’m sorry if this question has been asked before, but I’m in a bit of a rush and I haven’t been able to find the answer with rudimentary searches of “8400” “8500” “G86” and “G84” here.

Does the 8400 (non-mobile!) work with CUDA? I’ve read that the 8500 works okay, but aren’t they identical with the only difference being that the 8400 has a 64 bit memory bus and the 8500 has a 128 bit bus? I know it’s a marginal difference in price, but at our school we already have a few high end cards and I’m thinking it might be nice to have a dozen or so workstations with these cards for learning and testing simple stuff on.

Thanks!

Yes, CUDA is supported on all 8-series GPUs, although I would recommend the 8500 or 8600 if you can afford it because the performance will be much better.

Good to know! Thank you for the swift reply to this.

I’d recommend at least 128-Bit Memory Bandwidth. The 8400 has only 64 bit.
I think the 8500 has a 128 bit interface. It’s pretty cheap too.
