Failed in flashing with SDK Manager for Jetson Orin Nano Super

Hello, I’m currently experiencing errors on flashing the Jetson Orin Nano Super dev kit, using SDK Manager.

Host: Dell R730 Server with ESXI
OS: Ubuntu 22.04 running on ESXI
Storage Device: 2TB NVMe SSD
Forced Recovery Mode: Yes

I am seeing the following messages and got stuck there. The SDK Manager log is also attached for your reference.

The USB autosuspend is already disabled.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi b_flyingfrog,

Which Jetpack release you are trying to flash?

From the screenshot you shared, it seems you didn’t configure the devkit to force recovery state.
Please refer to the following steps to enter into this state.

  1. remove power cable
  2. connect USB-C port with your host
  3. short REC/GND pin at button header
  4. plug power cable
  5. run lsusb on your host to check if the devkit can be detected

Hi, Kevin,

Jetpack release to flash: 6.2
For force recovery mode, Pin 9 and Pin10 are shorted
I noticed that lsusb in host OS shows NVIDIA Corp. APX. Does it indicate it is already in Force Recovery state? In some other posts, people mentioned that only “NVIDIA Corp.” will show up, not including ‘APX’. Is there any difference or is it something new?

I also checked the TERMINAL in SDK Manager. There are errors at the end of the log.

Yes, 0955:7523 indicates that it is in force recovery state.

Could you connect the USB cable to another USB port on your host?
Or have you tried using another host PC to install with SDK manager?

Yea, I tried different ports on the server, and also different USB cables.

Unfortunately, I have only one server running the VM Ubuntu.

Can I try Windows WSL instead?

Sorry that we don’t suggest using VM/WSL/docker for SDK manager to flash the Orin Nano devkit.
It may cause the connection issue.
