Hi! I know that by manually saving an usd I can create the thumbnail for a usd file:
But how about updating the full folder of usd files?
How can I do that?

Hi @pekka.varis! I passed this along to the dev team for some help in figuring out what is happening here. That error message looks like its the reason why there is a problem generating thumbnails.
Also, I am only aware of the thumbnail generation upon saving method that you mentioned above. So I will ask if there is a way to do this for an entire folder.

I apologize for the wait! I have good news and bad news.
Bad news, we don’t currently have a way to automatically generate USD thumbnails because each file would need to be loaded then snapshot separately.
Good news is that the development team is working on a way to support this! No date on when that will be implemented yet.

Is there any status on the thumbnail generation feature?
Also, the ’ thumbnail generation upon saving method’ link is broken. Do you have an updated link?

The thumbnail should save when you save the file and update then. It does not update at any other time. Plus this only works well on Nucleus server. Not great outside of it. As far as I know, nothing is broken with the system at this time.
