Gdx spark UEFI

I’m using gdx spark, the system breaks, and I want to recover the system from UEFI follow below step, I didn’t see UEFI screen when press del after power on, I’m sure my screen and keyboard is fine as I tested them with another gdx box, what could be the issue?

Hi Sarah

If you don’t see the UEFI screen when pressing Del even though your monitor and keyboard work fine on another DGX Spark, there are a few likely causes:

1. Make sure the system can actually show anything at power‑on

  • Check that the Spark’s power LED and fan behave normally (powers on and stays on, no repeated power‑cycling).
  • Connect only the essentials: power, one monitor, and one wired USB keyboard directly to a rear USB port (no hub/KVM/Bluetooth). Some Bluetooth and wireless keyboards are not detected early enough for UEFI access, so a simple USB keyboard is recommended.
  • Try both HDMI and USB‑C video outputs and a different cable/monitor input to rule out a display path issue.

2. Use the documented UEFI entry method (timing is critical)

To enter UEFI you need to:

  • Power on or restart the DGX Spark.
  • Immediately press Esc or Del during boot and keep holding the key until the UEFI menu appears.

In practice, it can help to:

  • Fully power the unit off, then power it on and rapidly tap Del (or Esc) repeatedly until either UEFI or the OS starts.
  • Repeat this a few times to ensure the keypress timing is not being missed by fast boot behavior, which can make the UEFI window very short.

3. Try different USB ports and eliminate keyboard issues

  • Move the keyboard between rear USB ports in case one controller is not initializing correctly at boot.
  • Avoid any gaming/programmable keyboards for testing; use a basic USB keyboard that is known to work in UEFI/BIOS on other systems.

4. When to suspect a deeper hardware or firmware fault

If all of the following are true:

  • You are using a known‑good, simple wired USB keyboard, directly connected.
  • You have tried Esc and Del with careful timing over multiple cold boots.
  • You have tested multiple video ports, cables, and monitors.
  • You never see an NVIDIA logo, UEFI screen, or any boot output at all (and the OS never appears either).

then it is likely not just a missed keypress, but a firmware or motherboard‑level problem similar to other reports where the Spark powers on (fan, USB power) but never drives a display. In that case, the next step is to open an NVIDIA Enterprise Support case (or go through your reseller) and reference this behavior so they can advise on repair/RMA options.

Thanks,
Ilan.
