GTX 570 artifacting

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had run into a similar issue. I’m using Gigabyte GTX 570 OC (GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) Video Card GV-N570OC-13I Rev2.0 - Newegg.com) with the CUDA development drivers (270.41.19) on Ubuntu 11.04. When I do a fresh install of the drivers everything is working fine, but after a day or two of the computer being on (I leave it on so that I can ssh into it offsite) I start getting major artifacts even when I’m just using simple applications such as terminal and firefox (i.e. chunks of the wallpaper starts showing through my terminal window, bottom task bar renders incorrectly, etc.). I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the card or the driver or the OS, and since it’s linux it’s much more difficult to change the voltage settings of the card to see if it’s just a problem with the factory OC. Has anyone else ever run into a similar issue? Or can someone suggest a solution? Reinstalling the drivers seem to solve the problem but only temporarily as the problems start occurring a day or two after …

Thanks!

Hi!

This problem sounds similar to the one discussed here:

However, in the cases above reinstalling the driver doesn’t help. A power-cycle is needed to get the card back in a functioning state.
