I’m using 4 monitors connected to my 3080 Ti on Linux. This used to work on older driver versions.
With later versions, I had to restart the TV (long press power button) to get the TV correctly output an image.
On some next driver version, I had to switch the HDMI connector from 60 to 30 Hz, and back to 60 Hz in nvidia-settings to make it work.
Since 550/560 driver series, it usually doesn’t work at all now.
And with 570 it has become even worse: When the TV is connected, my KDE Plasma wayland desktop doesn’t render at all on any monitor until I disconnect the TV. I can then reconnect it but the TV won’t show an image. The TV shows instructions that the source is offline or not connected while the PC detects the TV.
With 570, I see the following message in dmesg:
[ 80.596537] NVRM: GPU at PCI:0000:01:00: GPU-94de4b2d-e5a4-fd60-a9e3-fd87115fbaef
[ 80.596551] NVRM: Xid (PCI:0000:01:00): 154, GPU recovery action changed from 0x0 (None) to 0x2 (Node Reboot Required)
Previously I’ve seen messages that HDMI FRL link training failed? I’m not sure…
A reboot is obviously not required, it doesn’t fix anything. I’ve now disabled the TV output in my KDE settings.
