when I try to ifup eth4 I’ll get over 9k times Link Up/Link Down and finally stop.

I wonder if there is anything I can do to get more information on what may be wrong with the card of the Optics.

Based on the information provide, you can do the following to eliminate if it is the cable, switchport or adapter.
- Replace cable for a know good one
- Swap adapter with a known good one
- Move adapter to a different slot on the node
- Move the adapter on a known good switch port
If the issue stays with the adapter, we recommend to open a support ticket to assist you further, if there is a valid support contract on the adapter.
