How to make “god rays” on Kit 106

How to increase “god rays” impact?

the window “path traced fog” is gone now in Kit 106 and Composer.

How do I make these god rays now?

“Path traced fog” is now called “Volumetrics”. It’s in the render settings on the first tab.

I understand that, thanks! And is there any info / tips to re-create the god tays effect or do I search it myself again?

We don’t really have a guide like that but I’m sure you can get it to work with trial and error. It works really well.

Also, I know you’ve had issues with Kit 107, but what are the current issues right now preventing you from moving to kit 107? I thought we’d figure out most of those issues.

The reason right now is since 106 works better to get with Isaac Sim 4.5 - we made that decision together like 2 weeks ago..

All right, now I got it why I did not “found” the god rays settings.
Since I try to create a laser scanning light, it reacts to air and dust a little different way.

See I make a super focused rect light and while focusing so hard, it looses the “volumetric fog effect”:

As you can see the cheap and dirty solution would be to extract the light from hitting the boxes.
But I found a more elegant way.
I solved this by using a still vdb frame that have a smoke/fog/dust MUCH on the other side.

I positioned this so I get that narrow laser on disco floor smoke effect :D
Now I do not have to make separate render passes for this, Heureka!

VDB tends to get blurry on low sample / motion blus settings.
